My 2009 Mazda 6 2.2 diesel has covered 66,000 miles and is two months out of warranty. Last week I noticed a loss of power and took the car to the dealer to be inspected. Both engines are good, but the diesel is a strong, smooth unit. When cold it's a bit noisy but it quickly quietens down. The petrol can't hope to match its pull in the gears nor its relaxed manner in urban environments. The 6's ground clearance is 160mm, so it clearly isn't an off road proposition.
