The Garmin HRM Run gives you a whole lot of extra metrics like cadence, oscillation, ground contact time, ground contact balance, stride length, and vertical ratio. If you want extra data that's the one to go for! The best for me has been the Polar OH1+. It's not a chest strap, it's an optical arm band.

11:19am. - Omrom IA2 reading: 111/68; 52 bpm. - Garmin reading: 109/65; 53 bpm. When taking a 3x reading, there is an automatic note added to the 'Notes' that says 'This is a 3X reading'. Unfortunately on the 3X reading it doesn't show the variation in the 3 readings, just the average.
